Khosrow Semnani, a Utah resident and naturalized citizen, was born July 24, 1947 in Mashaad, Iran. In 1993, Mr. Semnani felt a strong desire to follow the guidance of his grandmother, Maliheh, to reach out and help others less fortunate. As a result, Ghazaleh and Khosrow Semnani created the Semnani Foundation as an international foundation committed to helping solve some of the most troubling women and children’s global health and education issues.
Education
Khosrow Semnani earned a dual Bachelor of Science Degrees in Chemistry and Physics from Salt Lake City’s Westminster College in 1972. He later earned a Masters of Engineering Administration Degree from the University of Utah in 1977. Khosrow Semnani was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Science degree from Southern Utah University in May 2005 for his outstanding work in the field of nuclear waste management. He also served for eight years as Vice Chairman and for three years as Chairman of The Board of Trustees for Encyclopedia Iranica at Columbia University.
